The NBA is blessed to have so many great players in the league at the moment. There seems to be star power wherever you look, as the talent level has probably never been higher. We saw that to an extent when the starters for the All-Star game were announced, as a host of big names didn’t make it.

Kyrie Irving was one who did make it in, as he got the nod to start for the 6th time in his career. Irving dealt with quite a bit of controversy at the start of the season but has let his play do all the talking for him after that. NBA Central on Twitter posed a question to fans asking who got to go between Kyrie, James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Jimmy Butler, with Irving still getting picked by quite a few despite his great play.

“3 of these guys didn’t get carried by LBJ.”

“butler “

“3 of these players have made the conference finals without LeBron”

“Harden. Anyone saying Jimmy doesn’t realize he can dominate both sides of the ball whenever he wants to.”

“Honestly Kyrie ain’t do much in the playoffs since he left Cleveland so I’d say Kyrie”

“I was stuck picking between Harden and Jimmy but i’m taking Jimmy, he’s better in the playoffs”

“Depends on the situation. For a season, Kyrie gotta go. For a playoff run, Harden gotta go. For one single game I have to win, Harden gotta go.”

“Honestly Kyrie or Dame bring the least versatility out of everyone here I think one of them has to go”

“sorry i love jimmy and all but the other 3 are on a different level this year”

“Sixers harden. If it was Houston harden this would be TOUGH!!!!!!”

“Either jimmy or dame, jimmy got better defense and dame the only one here that hasn’t been to the finals so I’d probably say dame”

“It’s Kyrie and it’s not even close.”

“Dame, least accomplished player here”

“Jimmy butler easily”

“Kyrie is the only one there that can’t get out of round two as a number one option he’s literally the only choice”

“launch jimmy to outer space”

“It’s pretty easily Harden tbh”

“Kyrie, no discussion needed.”

“Dame. Jimmy the best playoff performer here. Kyrie second. Harden more versatile than dame and bigger size.”

Kyrie’s postseason play hasn’t been great since his days with LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers, so he does have a lot to prove this season. There is the added pressure that also comes with him being a free agent in the summer, as it doesn’t look like there’s a lot of interest in him at the moment.

Teams Do Not Want To Give Kyrie Irving A Contract Of More Than 2 Years

Irving has stayed out of trouble after his early season controversies, but it hasn’t been enough for the Brooklyn Nets to consider offering him an extension. His agent stated that they have reached out to the Nets, but they have had no significant conversations to date.

He wants to be in Brooklyn but ideally on a long-term deal, but it doesn’t look like anyone would give him that at the moment. An executive stated that Irving will have a very small list of teams interested in him in the summer and that no one would give him a contract of more than 2 years. The only way you see this stance changing from teams is if Kyrie balls out in the postseason and leads the Nets to the title.
