Chris Paul Opens On Jae Crowder’s Absence On The Suns: “I Miss Him”

Chris Paul spoke about Jae Crowder not playing with the Phoenix Suns this season wit a fair bit of sadness.

Jae Crowder had established himself as one of the better role players in the league, especially with his recent stint with the Phoenix Suns. Shooting the three-pointer efficiently and providing grit and defense made Crowder a fan favorite in Phoenix, at least until recent developments ahead of this season.

The Phoenix Suns have fallen off, that is plain to see. Deandre Ayton has had his issues with the franchise, Devin Booker has been struggling with staying healthy, and Chris Paul has seemingly finally regressed. But the big story has been Jae Crowder sitting out and asking to be traded after the Suns told him that they didn’t want to start him this season. This has raised eyebrows across the league, with Crowder even being criticized, but Chris Paul just misses his teammate.

“Jae, 99, I miss him, I miss him. Ain’t no secret about it. It’s one of our brothers. I came here with Jae. Hope he good, 99, if you out there, hope you good. But it’s a business, it’s the league. It is what it is.”

The Phoenix Suns recently lost to the Dallas Mavericks despite Luka Doncic having to sit most of the game out, a bad moment. Paul said this about Crowder after that game, and it makes sense, his 10 points per game and 5 assists would have made a huge difference for the Suns. But the relationship between the player and the franchise has broken down, as is evident from his recent comments.

Jae Crowder Got Real On His Messy Situation With The Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns have been destroyed by injuries this season, and many have called for Jae Crowder to return to the court during that time. But after he spoke about what he thought of the situation recently, it became clear that the bridge has been burned.

“I’ve spoken to every player that I’ve played with on that team and they all have stressed how much they miss [me] and respect my decision, and I’m thankful for their understanding,” Crowder told B/R via text message. “This move of pushing me out the door was a blindsided hit to not only me but my teammates, as you can see from speaking to them and myself and the conversations we’ve had behind closed doors.

It seems the saga will only end once the team decides to move Crowder on, which will likely happen before the trade deadline. The Miami Heat are one of the interested parties, and they’re far from the only one. Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns aren’t the only ones that could use Crowder on the court.
