Kevin Durant will join his Brooklyn Nets teammate Kyrie Irving was one of the NBA 2023 All-Star starters, and he’s grateful to fans for their votes.

While he’s sidelined at the moment due to an MCL sprain, Durant’s selection comes as a no-brainer given his electric run this season. He’s averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.3 rebounds and was instrumental in the Nets’ rise.

The forward has missed over two weeks after his injury on January 8. Durant is expected to return to action before the All-Star break. Soon after his 13th-year selection, he took to Twitter to thank his fans, who in return heaped praises on the veteran.

Thanks to all the @nba fans who voted me in as a starter, and thanks to my peers around the league as well….13 of them thangs, shit doesn’t get old.

Here’s what fans had to say in return.

Should Durant suit up for the All-Star Weekend, he and Irving will be All-Star starters together for the first time since they teamed up to play for the Nets.

Kevin Durant And Kyrie Irving Keen On Suiting Up For The All-Star Weekend

After their selection as starters, both the Nets’ stars expressed their excitement about being picked as starters and said they were keen on suiting up for the All-Star weekend.

Durant’s injuries rendered him unavailable for the All-Star Games since 2019, but with the progress this time going on track, he just might take the floor. Per the New York Post:

“Obviously, I don’t want to rush anything. I want to make sure I’m 100 percent. But yeah, I want to play,”

Irving echoed the sentiment as well. This will be his eighth year as an All-Star. He didn’t play last year following his stance to not get vaccinated for COVID-19 which also resulted in him missing a sizeable chunk of games for Brooklyn.

“More than grateful. I don’t take any of these accomplishments for granted. Hopefully going to be hitting double-digits [All-Star appearances] soon.”

Joining Durant and Irving in the East will be Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), and Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers).

The West will see LeBron James leading the side and will have Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), and Zion Williamson (New Orleans Pelicans) in his team.
