Spencer Dinwiddie Called Out His Former Wizards Teammates, Said They Are Playing For Money And Not To Win The Game

Spencer Dinwiddie took a jab at his former Wizards teammates, stating that they are just trying to get paid and aren't interested in playing winning basketball.

Spencer Dinwiddie spent half a season with the Washington Wizards and it is fair to say that he doesn’t have too many happy memories of his time with the franchise. Dinwiddie was traded to the Wizards before the 2021-22 season but he was shipped out after playing just 44 games for them in which he averaged 12.6 PPG on a woeful 37.6% shooting from the field.

Dinwiddie has had a lot more success on the Dallas Mavericks and is having one of the best seasons of his career at the moment, as he is averaging 16.9 PPG on 46.1% shooting from the field. He got to face the Wizards for the third time after they traded him on Tuesday night but just like the previous two instances, he ended up on the losing side once again. Dinwiddie had taken a jab at them after the first meeting and he went off at them after this one.

Spencer Dinwiddie on Wizards: "They’re not playing for nothing for real… it’s a showcase. They're over there trying to get paid, not trying to play winning basketball. For a team that has real aspirations.. an MVP, went to the conference finals last year, we have to be better…” pic.twitter.com/VO1QwcYlN9

“I mean we just got to be better in that respect. They’re not playing for nothing for real. They’re just coming out here firing like they’ve got people coming off the bench just firing, because at the end of the day for them, it’s a showcase. They’re over there trying to get paid, not trying to play winning basketball. For a team that has real aspirations and has an MVP, went to the conference finals last year, we have to be better to a man.”

He was clearly frustrated that the Wizards beat him again and maybe his negative comments towards them in the past gave them extra motivation here. The Mavericks are also very much in a downward spiral at the moment, which would have added to his frustrations.

Spencer Dinwiddie Reacted To Fans Saying Luka Doncic Has No Help

The Mavericks seemed to have figured things out when they won their 7th game in a row at the start of January. They have followed it up though by losing 8 of their next 11 games and we have had Mavs fans once again start calling for the front office to get Luka Doncic more help.

A ‘Please Send Help’ mural was drawn in Dallas not too long back and Dinwiddie responded to all the talk about Doncic having no help. He said he isn’t fazed by all of that but isn’t happy with the fans going with that narrative. It isn’t going away anytime soon though, as it is clear that the Mavs need to make a splash if they are to compete for championships. They are one of the teams interested in Bojan Bogdanovic and a move for the Croatian would be a step in the right direction.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely.
