Luka Doncic is proving that he is unquestionably the best player in the NBA and the front-runner in MVP conversations last night with his performance against the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s widely considered that Doncic has very little to work with in terms of a supporting cast and had to play 54 minutes to close out the 2OT win.

Doncic had a spectacular performance against LA, notching another triple-double as he put on a playmaking clinic to beat the Lakers’ offensive traps. Luka also scored 2 clutch 3s at the end of regulation and the first overtime to ensure that Dallas doesn’t lose this game.

Prior to the game, a mural had been spotted in Dallas where fans highlighted Luka’s biggest statlines from this season with Doncic holding up a sign that says ‘please send help‘.

Mark Cuban has been criticized a lot this season for the slow team-building with Doncic, especially because he didn’t re-sign Jalen Brunson and allowed the team to get worse. There are too many bad contracts on this Mavericks’ roster and it’ll be a pain to clear that out and give Luka help soon.

Will Luka Doncic Leave The Dallas Mavericks Eventually?

As Doncic has entered the first year of his new contract, everyone has recognized that there is a ticking clock over the heads of the Mavs. They need to earn his full trust in the next 3 years to see if he wants to extend his contract, with the fourth year possibly being a free-agent season for Doncic if he opts out of his player option.

Fans have been worried about this happening all season long, so Dallas will be prime contenders to make a big swing in the offseason after their pick future gets cleared up. They owe their last first-round pick in the trade to acquire Kristaps Porzingis in 2023 after which, the Mavs will have an arsenal of big contracts and draft assets to get Doncic the co-star he deserves.
