Bojan Bogdanovic may be the player commanding the most interest ahead of this year’s trade deadline. The Detroit Pistons sharpshooter is currently averaging 21.2 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 2.8 APG, and it is clear that Bojan Bogdanovic could help a number of teams around the league with his offensive skill set.
A recent report from Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed a number of teams that are currently interested in Bojan Bogdanovic. Notably, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks were among their number.
The Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks are among the teams registering interest in Detroit’s Bojan Bogdanović, league sources say. The Pistons have maintained that they prefer to keep Bogdanović moving forward, but as The Athletic’s James Edwards III reported, the franchise is open to conversations, and it’s believed an unprotected first-round pick can pry Bogdanović out of Detroit.
There is no doubt that Bojan Bogdanovic could potentially help all of the teams mentioned on this list. Having a wing player that is highly-effective off-ball and that provides supplementary shot creation is important for a number of contending teams. It will be interesting to see where he lands, and there is definitely the possibility of a bidding war in the future.
The Los Angeles Lakers Have Already Discussed A Deal For Bojan Bogdanovic
It was previously reported that the Los Angeles Lakers have already discussed a deal for Bojan Bogdanovic. The deal reportedly also included rim-protecting center Nerlens Noel.
I think it’s a mistake to view any potential trade as “championship-or-bust.” If that’s the standard for trading your picks, you’ll never make a deal. I don’t think there’s any single trade out there—now or in July—that will assure the Lakers of title contention. But the basic formula of LeBron + AD + shooters/quality role players at least gives you a chance at a meaningful playoff run. THAT is what they should be aiming for. And maybe that will be the case. I’ve heard the Lakers and Pistons have discussed a deal that would include both Bogdanović and Nerlens Noel. Since the Pistons are demanding draft assets in any deal for Bogdanović, it’s sort of a given that the Lakers would have to surrender a first-round pick to make a deal. Maybe they make a second deal to fortify the rotation further. Will they be willing to trade both picks that are currently trade-eligible? The sense around the league is they won’t. But we’ll see.
The Los Angeles Lakers notably have a number of other trade targets as well, and Bojan Bogdanovic may not be the move they end up making. They have notably been linked to Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry in recent memory.
Still, Bojan Bogdanovic is likely a perfect fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and it would make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers to acquire him. We will see what ends up happening in the future.
