Michael Jordan’s career in the NBA was full of amazing moments. Be it winning MVP awards, scoring titles, or lifting the prestigious NBA Championship trophy, MJ did it all during his time with the Chicago Bulls. After essentially winning everything in the league, not many expected Jordan to be back in the NBA following his retirement after winning the 1998 NBA Championship.

But Michael Jordan proved everyone wrong when he returned for two more seasons while donning the jersey of the Washington Wizards. Although Jordan was out of his true prime, he still had an amazing mentality, and who better than his former teammate Kwame Brown to provide insight about it?

Kwame Brown Reveals Michael Jordan Wanted To Win NBA Championship With The Wizards

Kwame Brown may have been the number one overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. When Jordan arrived, he instantly became the star of the team. Many believe that Brown was even a victim of Jordan’s abuse during their limited time as teammates.

Either way, in a recent appearance with ‘The Pivot’ podcast, Brown explained the amazing mentality of Michael Jordan, even as a 39-year-old.

(Starts at 18:27)

“You had a coach in Doug Collins who didn’t believe in playing young players, and Michael didn’t either. Michael’s last hoorah, he wanted to win a championship. He thought that if he could get to the playoffs, he could win a championship.”

Keeping that in mind, Brown shared that he was meant to be traded as the Wizards didn’t care about developing young players at the time. In fact, Brown has shared earlier as well that Jordan was interested in trading him for Elton Brand in order to help the Wizards compete for an NBA Championship.

Brown ended up staying as a player for the Wizards, and the team didn’t even qualify for the playoffs during Jordan’s stint. But even if the Wizards had advanced to the postseason, it was highly unlikely that Jordan alone could have led them to a ring.
