The Los Angeles Lakers picked up a much-needed win when the Houston Rockets came down to the Crypto.com Arena for the final matchup of the NBA’s Martin Luther King Jr. game slate. LeBron James was the star of the show, dropping 48 points with a massive fourth-quarter performance to ensure the Lakers didn’t blow a double-digit lead.

The Lakers couldn’t protect the rim at all this game, with Rockets’ center Alperen Sengun dominating the inside to end with 33 points and 15 rebounds. However, the talking point is most definitely going to be LeBron James for his incredible effort to take the Lakers over the finish line.

Having Bron score 48 just for us to have a chance to win against the rockets is nasty. Make a damn trade.

LeBron scored 48 against Houston.

He now has 38,072 career points and is 316 points away from passing Kareem.

At 29.7 PPG LeBron will break the scoring record in 11 games.

We needed 50 from Lebron to beat the worst team in basketball by 8 points.

Shaking my head.

Do not take LeBron James for granted. This shit is not normal.

The Lakers’ defense will have worried them in this game, even though they won. The Rockets scored 132 points and the Lakers had to drop 140 to win this game, behind LeBron’s 48 points. A win is a win, so the Lakers will be happy to get a W tonight behind a sensational performance by their superstar.

Can The Lakers Make It To A Top-6 Seed?

If the Lakers get Anthony Davis back soon, there’s no telling what level of success they can enjoy in the crowded Western Conference. There is very little separating all the teams and AD’s return will give the Lakers a massive boost. His defensive impact has been severely missed and if he can play at the level prior to his injury, the Lakers are going to be scary.

A trade to reinforce their wing troubles might be the cherry on top that allows the Lakers to start matching up to the better teams in the West, given how they’re fighting in games and making themselves a tough matchup for most opponents. Darvin Ham has already implied the team is looking to add shooters, so the trade deadline will be very interesting for the Lakers.
