The Los Angeles Lakers have been playing well of late, none of their losses have been as egregious as they were earlier in the season. There have been positive updates from time to time on Davis’ situation, but the latest one from Shams Charania will be a great cause for optimism.
Shams Charania Says Anthony Davis Might Return Before The All-Star Break
Having missed the last 15 games for the Lakers, the fact that he could make his return within a month from now is hugely positive for the franchise. If the team can stay connected to the play-in spots, Shams Charania’s outlined timeline for his return could push them over the edge and secure a potential shot at playoff basketball.

“Anthony Davis is expected to start running now,” Charania began. “So, once that happens and he’s back onto the floor running full speed, that point he’s going to progress to contact work in the relative near future. And so, I’m told that the hope is that Anthony Davis is going to be able to get back out on the floor with a handful of games left before the All-Star break.”
The NBA’s All-Star Break this season is on the 19th of February, just about a month from now. If he is to return a handful of games before them as Shams has suggested, Davis could be on the floor for their game against the Thunder on February 8th, or the subsequent one against the Milwaukee Bucks.
This would leave around 30 games for Anthony Davis to play in, which means if the Lakers can put together another small run before then, they could be well-placed to make it to the play-in. And if they know Davis is coming back, then perhaps a trade will make sense too. This could still turn out to be a pretty good season for the Los Angeles Lakers.
