The NBA trade deadline is coming up, and there’s no doubt that means that teams around the league will be looking to blow things up or improve their rosters. There has been a large number of trade chatter ahead of this year’s deadline, and it seems as though there are a number of solid veterans available for trade.

A recent report from NBA insider Marc Stein revealed that the Toronto Raptors have made shooting guard Gary Trent Jr. available in trades, and the Dallas Mavericks have done the same with shooting Tim Hardaway Jr. as well. The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly in the mix for Tim Hardaway Jr. already.

Based on my reporting, while Gary Trent Jr. is undeniably available in advance of the deadline, I wouldn’t expect a broad fire sale.

League sources have reaffirmed to me that Hardaway is indeed available and that it’s essentially up to the Cavaliers if they are prepared to take on the two years and $34.1 million left on Hardaway’s contract beyond this season. Caris LeVert’s expiring $18.8 million contract is the simplest match for Hardaway, who has emerged from a very slow start to shoot 40.5% from 3-point range in 21 games entering Sunday’s play since Mavericks coach Jason Kidd moved him into the starting lineup.

Both Gary Trent Jr. and Tim Hardaway Jr. profile as solid offensive shooting guards that can provide floor spacing and scoring either from the starting lineup or the bench. There are several teams that could use their services, and we’ll see where those two players end up in the future.

The Dallas Mavericks Are Exploring Trades To Make Their Roster Better

It was previously reported that the Dallas Mavericks are a team that is interested in veteran sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic. He could definitely be a solid addition for them due to his spacing and offensive skillset.

Bogdanovic’s strong play has led numerous playoff-caliber teams around the league to express interest in trading for him, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and Atlanta Hawks, among several others, league sources told HoopsHype. Thus far, Detroit has been unwilling to engage in trade talks for the 33-year-old forward. Rival executives, however, are hopeful that stance changes closer to the deadline if Detroit continues to remain in the cellar of the East, with Cade Cunningham expected to miss the rest of the season.

It remains to be seen what moves the Dallas Mavericks make ahead of the trade deadline if any. It is clear that they have been exploring any difference-making moves, and it was even noted that Chicago Bulls’ star Zach LaVine has fans in the front office.

Hopefully, we see the Dallas Mavericks figure out a way to make the roster better around Luka Doncic. The Western Conference is wide open, and the time to go all-in is now.
