The 2021-22 NBA season will live long in the memory of the Golden State Warriors. Sure, the title runs in 2015, 2017, and 2018 were special, but none of those really come close to 2022. The Warriors dynasty was said to have died in 2019, but they showed that they were far from being done.
Becoming champions again meant a lot to the team and especially to Stephen Curry. Long ridiculed for not winning a Finals MVP, Curry finally got the monkey off his back with some stunning displays and after it was all done, he was quite emotional. His mother Sonya Curry was recently asked what his son was going through in those moments and here’s what she had to say.

“Relief. Last year was a year in so many ways on-and-off the court for him and just getting back and doing it again when so many people said they couldn’t and that they wouldn’t and getting Klay (Thompson) back and the 3-point record, everything. I think that was the culmination in those tears was, ‘It’s done.'”
There was probably a lot of relief. The moment also just got to Curry when he thought of all the adversity the Warriors had to go through to get back to the top. Considering the highs of last season, Curry probably didn’t think the Warriors would be in a rough spot in 2022-23, but that has unfortunately been the case.
Draymond Green Called Out The Warriors For Their Defensive Struggles
Despite Curry being on the sidelines with a shoulder injury, the Warriors had surprisingly won 5 games in a row but they followed it up by losing two in a row to the Detroit Pistons and the Orlando Magic. They are now 20-20 on the season and Draymond Green isn’t happy with the way they are defending, admitting that it is a bit alarming.
The Warriors have improved on defense as compared to where they were after the first month of the season, but they still rank 19th in the league in defensive rating, which isn’t great. They’ll at least be getting Curry back soon and he should help them go on a bit of a run to shoot up the standings.
