The Memphis Grizzles have been one of the more exciting teams to watch out for this season.

They have been stacking up wins and are placed second in the Western Conference, and are one of the teams primed to make the playoffs. They owe much of their heavy lifting to their star trio of Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, and Dillon Brooks.

That said, the injury to Bane has had a considerable impact on the side, and with the trade window now open, the Grizzlies will look to bolster their already competitive roster with a couple of players who could make an instant splash and further increase their chances of going the distance during the postseason.

The good news for Memphis is that they are not one of the sides heading into the trade deadline with a finger on the panic button. Their second-place stand puts them at an advantage giving them the time to evaluate players and look at offers accordingly.

On that note, we take a look at three players the Grizzlies could look to trade this season.

3. Brandon Clarke

Power forward Brandon Clarke is one of the names the Grizzlies could float for potential suitors. The forward is averaging 10.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists this season.

Clarke inked a four-year, $52 million deal with Memphis and has a $4 million pay for this season, followed by $12 million for the next three years. He has been a useful part of the Grizzlies’ rotation and can be one of the players looked to be traded if the team can find another big name to add to their roster.

The forward’s evolution has been immense during his time with Memphis, and it’s hard to imagine the side letting him go, but such has been the impact he’s had that it’s hard for other teams not to notice his energy, attitude, and confidence when he takes the hardwood.

2. Danny Green

Three-time NBA champion Danny Green is yet to suit up to play this season, but that doesn’t diminish his trade value. Given the veteran’s experience and his non-guaranteed contract, the sharpshooter becomes one of the players the Grizzlies could put on the trade market.

Earlier, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst mention Green in trade rumors, even as the shooting guard was in the studio as part of the network’s NBA Today segment while dealing with a torn ACL.

Brian Windhorst: They have extra draft picks, they have tradeable pieces. This is awkward, Sorry to say this Danny… He has an expiring contract… One of the people the people are talking about, if the Grizzlies want to upgrade, will they call about Danny Green and a draft pick… I do think you’ll hear your name, I’m sorry to say, in some trade discussions.

Danny Green: I’m not shocked. At this point in my career I’ve heard my name quite often.

The guard is on a two-year, $10 million contract with the team. Adding more to the rumor was The Athletic’s Shams Charania, who felt they could use the former Los Angeles Laker as part of a package deal.

“The fact that they have all their [first round] picks, they have Danny Green, they can really go get a star player out there in the marketplace.”

Green averaged 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.6 rebounds during the 2021-22 season, but he’s better than his numbers suggest and will almost definitely find a new home by the end of the season.

1. Tyus Jones

Tyus Jones signed a two-year, $29 million deal with the Grizzlies and is one of the players eligible to be traded after January 15. The point guard is one of the names doing the rounds, and some of the analysts have already chalked up potential trade scenarios.

Per Da Windy City, a suggested trade would send him to the Chicago Bulls, as they would receive the 2023 and 2025 first-round picks along with Steven Adams and land a solid superstar in DeMar DeRozan in return.

With teams willing to play the waiting game and ink deals closer to the deadline, it remains to be seen if Jones gets an offer from other teams. He has been churning out a decent 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists coming off the bench. The eight-season veteran will be one of the names looked at by rebuilding sides.
