After many months of rumors of speculation, Kyrie Irving decided to stay with the Brooklyn Nets for at least one year, shutting down rumors of a potential arrival to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kyrie Irving and LeBron James were an incredible duo in Cleveland, going to three straight NBA Finals and winning one of the most memorable series of all time. Their tenure in Cleveland didn’t end at the same time, and when Kyrie decided to move away, many thought that his relationship with LeBron played a role in that.

Over the years, they have exchanged jabs, but recently, things appear to be going well between them. LeBron even defended Kyrie when the Brooklyn Nets gave him a list of conditions to complete before being reinstated by that team.

Kyrie Irving Could Join The Lakers In A Big Move Next Summer

Many thought this was a big move by LeBron to start luring Kyrie away from Brooklyn. The Nets are thriving right now, and nothing points out. Kyrie will try to leave them next offseason, but some people think the Lakers still have a chance to land the talented point guard.

According to Mark W. Sanchez of the New York Post, Kyrie could still be interested in a reunion with LeBron James on the Los Angeles Lakers.

If the Nets do decide they want to remain in business with Irving, the next question would surround their competition. The Lakers have long been linked with Irving, and other teams with projected salary cap space include the Rockets, Hornets, Pistons, Pacers, Thunder and Magic.

“It is possible Irving wants to reunite with old Cavaliers pal LeBron James in Los Angeles,” Sanchez writes. “But James can opt out of his contract after the 2023-24 season. Would the Lakers offer Irving a contract for several seasons, which potentially would keep him around longer than James?”

This would be shocking to see, considering how great the Nets are playing right now and the bad situation the Lakers are living in. They are without Anthony Davis at this moment, and the season has gone South after that situation.

Things aren’t going well for the Lakers, and perhaps a move for Kyrie would bring the solution to their problems, but that’s a big shot right now. The Nets are on pace to assault the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference, and if they keep this level, they could go all the way to the Finals. Leaving this situation to join LeBron and the Lakers won’t be the best decision for Kyrie, but in the NBA, with Kyrie Irving, you never know.
