Donovan Mitchell is coming off the hottest game of his NBA career, dropping 71 points on the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. The former Utah Jazz star has been a blessing for the Cavs, who were already a good and talented team when he arrived there.

Mitchell has taken them to the next level, and fans are really excited about the team, which ranks 4th in the Eastern Conference right now. Following that explosive performance, Mitchell is now ready to take on an always dangerous team that isn’t going through the best moment right now.

The Phoenix Suns have won only 4 of their last 15 games, looking nothing like the team they were at the beginning of the season when Devin Booker was even getting MVP consideration. This combination of realities could end up in Mitchell having another huge night, but the Suns are already playing their game to stop the shooting guard.

Mikal Bridges Doesn’t Want Donovan Mitchell To Go Off On Suns

Mikal Bridges, one of the best defenders on the Suns, urged Mitchell to not try to make those efforts against them. If he previously went for 71, Bridges think he’s now aiming at 80.

“Hope he don’t try that s**t next game,” Bridges said, via Suns beat reporter Duane Rankin of AZ Central. “I talked to him today. I sent him a lot of IG DMs. A lot of voice memos. Kept telling him, ‘Hey bro, don’t try to come get 80 tomorrow.’”

These strategies sometimes backfire and leave teams without an opportunity to defend themselves. That’s what happened with Gregg Popovich and Luka Doncic. The veteran head coach said the San Antonio Spurs would hold Luka under 50 points and the Dallas Mavericks superstar left the arena with 51 points.

It would be crazy to see Mitchell going for 80, but if that happens, you know who to blame for that. Kobe Bryant is only the second player to score 80+ points in a single game, but if Mitchell keeps things where he left them against the Bulls, the Suns will suffer a lot against Spida.
