Carmelo Anthony left the New York Knicks in 2017 amid controversy, but his love for that team and the city hasn’t changed. Melo is once again trying to find a new team in the league, but things haven’t been easy for him.
Still, Melo remains a beloved player around the league, and whenever he makes a public appearance, fans react to it. The last time he played in the league, he donned the Los Angeles Lakers jersey, but after a disappointing season for the Purple and Gold, Anthony became a free agent and is now trying to return to the association.
Earlier today, he made a surprise appearance at Madison Square Garden to watch the first of five games we have for Christmas Day today. Melo was sitting courtside with his son Kiyan as the New York Knicks took on the Philadelphia 76ers.

Unfortunately, the Knicks couldn’t get past the inspired duo of Joel Embiid and James Harden, despite Julius Randle’s heroics. The forward posted 35 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Melo was spotted courtside and said hello to the camera and the crowd that cheered for him.

It’s good to see that Anthony still gets a lot of love from people in New York despite the way things went before and after he left the Knicks. This team has had ups and downs this season, but they appear to be on the right track after a rocky start to the season.
They have been linked with a couple of moves recently, and perhaps that’s what they need to improve their level and compete against the top teams in the East. It’s unclear if Melo will get another opportunity in the league this season, but he keeps training for when somebody calls. We are talking about a future Hall of Famer, and his talents could help a contender this campaign.
