Joel Embiid had the ultimate praise for Kawhi Leonard after they went at it on Friday night in a clash between the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers. Embiid got the last laugh, having an incredible game and leading his team to the win against a very difficult team.

Kawhi Leonard tried to fight back, but Joel Embiid‘s 44 points were too much for the Klaw and his Clippers. Still, Leonard posted 28 points to go along with 3 rebounds and 5 assists.

After the game, the 2x NBA champion voiced his frustrations with the development of the game, calling out his teammates and head coach for not putting in the right effort to win the game. On the other side, Embiid was happy about the win, but he didn’t forget to give his flowers to Kawhi.

Joel Embiid Has Big Praise For Kawhi Leonard In Playoff Situations

Back in 2019, Leonard sent the Philadelphia 76ers home with an incredible game-winning series-clinching shot, and Embiid hasn’t forgotten about it. Following the match, the Cameroonian big man showered Leonard with praise, comparing him to none other than the GOAT, Michael Jordan. While talking about the Sixers’ comeback win, Embiid had this to say (via NBC Sports):

“That’s a good team right there,” Embiid said. “They’ve got all the talent in the world, from starting five to guys coming off the bench. They’re probably the favorites to come out of the West based on what they have. And Kawhi, I’m sure he’s still on a minute restriction, but he’s been doing it for so many years. Having played against him in the playoffs — especially in the playoffs — he just turns into freaking Michael Jordan. When you’ve got a guy like that, you’ve got a good chance.

“So for us to come back from down 20 or whatever that was, that’s big-time for us. That just shows that we’re staying together, we trust each other, and we know what we have to do. We started off the game soft, especially defensively. And as soon as we turned it up, it changed the whole game.”

Leonard somehow confirmed this statement a couple of weeks ago when he revealed he doesn’t care that much about the regular season and he focuses more on the playoffs when victories matter the most.

Still, according to his words, this defeat was really painful for him and the Los Angeles Clippers. He appears to be ready to dominate again, but the rest of the team needs to step up if they want to climb position on the Western Conference leaderboard.
