Michael Jordan was undoubtedly one of the biggest superstars to ever play in the NBA. Jordan’s best years in the league came when he donned the jersey of the Chicago Bulls for the most part of his career.

Many thought that Jordan retired for good after winning the sixth NBA Championship of his career in 1998. But in 2001, Jordan decided to unretire once again and, this time around joined the Washington Wizards. By then, Jordan was certainly out of his prime, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have scoring outbursts.

However, apart from that, the respect that everyone had for Michael Jordan was still there. Be it the fans, players, or even the referees.

Michael Jordan’s Unreal Aura Had An Impact On A Referee

Being the face of the league for several years, Michael Jordan certainly got foul calls in his favor all the time. It was no surprise that the NBA wanted to protect its best-ever asset. But considering that referees are human as well, they are bound to make a few mistakes in games.

One such thing happened when MJ was playing for the Wizards. Although the ref initially didn’t give the foul call, when Jordan appealed for it, the ref quickly agreed with him. In fact, the referee even dropped one of the most iconic lines.

“I didn’t see two hands Michael, but I’ll believe you.”

This was yet another example of the intimidation fact that the NBA legend possessed. Even after being out of his prime, he earned so much respect during his Bulls days that he was easily able to convince the referee to overturn his foul call.

While there were good moments here and there, Jordan’s time overall with the Wizards wasn’t good. In fact, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas once claimed that Mike wanted to play for more years with the Wizards, but the players at the time didn’t want him back. As a result, Jordan retired from the league for the final time after a 2-year stint with the Wizards.
