Even with Stephen Curry on the sidelines, Sunday night’s Christmas Day matchup between Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors will be must-see tv for NBA fans.
Since being eliminated by the Warriors in last year’s playoffs, Morant and his Grizzlies have been looking for revenge and their Christmas Day game should be the perfect stage for it.
Even with the Warriors in their current state, Morant doesn’t intend to take it easy and says he still respects them ad the defending champions.
“Obviously, it’s the team that kicked us out of the playoffs, so we always want to get our lick back,” Morant said. “Everybody knows what Golden State means to the game of basketball this last couple of years. They’re the defending champs. So regardless of their record, they’re still one of the top teams in this league. (They) can get going pretty fast. I wish everybody a speedy recovery and after that, a healthy season,” Ja continued. “… Strength in numbers? I guess. Nah, I ain’t with the strength in numbers. I’m Grizz next gen.”

It’s going to be tough for the Warriors to hang around without Curry, but they are 12-2 at home and still have several players capable of going off for 40.
Unfortunately, even if they do win against the Grizzlies on Christmas, there isn’t much hope in what they can do beyond that.
Can The Warriors Turn Their Season Around?
As bad as things look now, this could be just the start of a long season of torment for Warriors fans. Even before Steph was out, the team was struggling and it remains to be seen if they care-discover their championship form.
“Yes, it is [the lowest we’ve seen them],” said Stephen A. Smith. “We all know that Steph Curry is out, we understand that and we expected more from Klay. Consistently, he hasn’t been there even though he’s had more than a few moments this season. We hope he gets it going. Jordan Poole, I like Jordan Poole a lot and I’m glad he got his money but it’s time to earn it my brother. Here’s the reality of the situation: If I’m Joe Lacob, if I’m Bob Myers, I’m disgusted with what I’m seeing. Yes, they’re the reigning defending champions and they deserve a lot of credit for that. But what we need to recognize is that you don’t just get paid for what you’ve done, you get paid for what you’re projected to do moving forward. And there’s no way that they signed up for this… you got to be better than this.”
At a glance, we could be seeing a changing of the guard here in the Western Conference. If this decline by the Warriors isn’t a fluke, then the Grizzlies may be the ones to step in and take their spot as the team to beat in the West.
Regardless of how you feel about the Grizzlies, though, Ja doesn’t seem to be worried about the West right now, and it’s hard to blame him for it.
