Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan doesn’t often go out of his way to make public appearances. In fact, with his career having ended decades ago, MJ has been thriving behind the scenes as a businessman and NBA team governor.

But Jordan fans got some great news this week during the ‘All the Smoke’ NASCAR takeover when former NBA swingman Matt Barnes announced that Jordan himself (a noted NASCAR enthusiast) would be appearing on his podcast sometime in the near future.

“I’m still kinda in awe cause every time I talk to Mike or see Mike, I’m like a kid in the candy store. But, you know, for MJ to know that we are interested in this sport… he’ll be on ‘All the Smoke’ I can say that too. But to get a call from him is great. We in this space now Take it or leave it.”

In the comments, many of the fans raved with excitement about the clip and MJ’s upcoming appearance on the pod:

“MJ on All the smoke will literally break the Internet. “

“MJ on All the Smoke has potential to be the best interview of all time.”

“That’s different! Episode would break the internet”

“That’s gonna be the highest rated podcast ever”

“I pray to god MJ can do one interview for his fan.”

“Amazing! Can’t wait for that interview! talk!”

“Y’all do that and it’s OVER!!!!”

NASCAR is a wildly growing sport that has long held the interest of basketball’s greatest player. It’s cool to see the sport getting some rep and recognition from some popular names.

More importantly, however, it will be cool to find out what MJ says in his upcoming appearance on ‘All the Smoke.’

Michael Jordan Is More Than An NBA Owner

While MJ is still very much connected to the basketball world, his love for NASCAR goes pretty deep as well. In 2020, he even became the owner of his own team before signing Bubba Watson.

Partnering with Denny Hamlin, Jordan is starting a NASCAR team and he’ll sign the only black driver at NASCAR as his first driver.

“Historically, Nascar has struggled with diversity and there have been few Black owners,” Jordan said in his statement. “The timing seemed perfect as Nascar is evolving and embracing social change more and more. I see this as a chance to educate a new audience and open more opportunities for Black people in racing.”

As you can probably tell, MJ is a busy man. As the owner/governor of multiple teams, and the lead of many business ventures, it’s no surprise that he rarely has the time to answer questions about his NBA past.

But it won’t be long now before he gives us another glimpse into his world, and you can bet much of the NBA community will be waiting to hear it.
