Jayson Tatum is one of the best players in the league today, and there’s no doubt that he’s become the face of the Boston Celtics. Currently, Jayson Tatum is averaging 30.2 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 4.1 APG for the Boston Celtics.

Throughout this season, Jayson Tatum has been considered the frontrunner for the MVP award. However, recent losses to the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers have put his MVP candidacy into doubt, and Lee and Kyle have a discussion about whether he should still be in that conversation. (35:59)

Note: quotes from the Fadeaway World Podcast were edited for clarity and ease of reading.

Lee: Jayson Tatum… putting up superstar numbers. We all know he’s good. But, there’s been a lot of debate about him on Twitter… My question to you is. After the losses to the Clippers and the Warriors… they did beat the Lakers… The debate is since he didn’t show up against superstars… Is his MVP case still at the front… or has he dropped a rung?

Kyle: I mean no. Jayson Tatum is still the favorite to win the MVP. That has not changed after two games, against two teams that are barely hanging on to the playoff race as of right now… The Warriors are below .500… right now they’re not a good team, they’re actually below average. The Celtics are the best team in the league… He just reminded everyone [in the Lakers game], “Hey, I’m pretty damn good”.

There is no doubt that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Jayson Tatum win MVP. He is still a fantastic player. If the Boston Celtics maintain their current performances, Tatum will absolutely be at the top of the MVP talks.
