On Twitter Sunday evening, Suns swingman Jae Crowder took to Twitter in response to the news of his expiring partnership with Phoenix. After two seasons with the team, he became a regular rotation piece before the Suns’ second-round elimination.

Now, he is severing all ties with the team, as both sides look for a suitable trade partner.

ONE MUST SEEK WORK WHERE HE IS WANTED.. WHERE HE IS NEEDED.! I AM THANKFUL FOR WHAT THESE PAST 2 YRS HAVE TAUGHT ME.! NOW I MUST TAKE ON ANOTHER CHALLENGE WITH CONTINUED HARDWORK & DEDICATION.! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CLOSED THE DOOR ON ME…. THANK YOU! 99 BACK SOON.!

It’s a pretty cryptic message from Crowder, who seems to be implying that it was the Suns who prompted his exit from the team.

Jae Crowder And The Suns Have Mutually Agreed To Cut Ties As They Work On Finding A Trade

And while we don’t know the full details behind the parting, we do know that Crowder will not attend training camp as he waits for his ticket out of town.

The Phoenix Suns and Jae Crowder have mutually agreed that the veteran forward will not participate in training camp as the sides work on a trade, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium

Crowder’s last three NBA seasons have consisted of back-to-back runs to the NBA Finals (Miami 2020, Phoenix 2021) and league- and franchise-best 64 wins for the Suns in 2021-22. Crowder has been a key part of the Suns rotation; team has gone 115-39 in his two seasons.

It remains to be seen what will come next for Crowder, but Ja Morant liked his tweet, so that could be something to look out for down the road.

Regarding the Suns, losing Crowder is a pretty tough blow for a squad that barely managed to keep Deandre Ayton. Without adding really any significant talent, Phoenix arguably got worse this summer as a team and it could be why fans are giving up on their potential.

Either way, Crowder will be wearing a different jersey come next month and it will be interesting to see where he lands.
