Donovan Mitchell joining the Cleveland Cavaliers was a huge move, one that wasn’t expected all offseason. The New York Knicks were largely expected to be the team to make a move for Mitchell, but that never quite materialized. And what was interesting about it was that Mitchell himself was rumored to want to go play in New York for the Knicks, so some were wondering what his situation with the Cavaliers would be like.
Unlike a free agency move, the trade meant that Mitchell didn’t have much of a choice in where he went. Players are sometimes asked where they would like to be sent, but the relationship between the star and the franchise was hardly excellent at that point. Utah is clearly in a total rebuild at the moment, with Danny Ainge collecting a massive hoard of picks that they can use to rebuild the team.
Mitchell is expected to take some time to bed in, but the Cavaliers now have an excellent young roster with the potential to be great. The backcourt duo of Mitchell and Darius Garland is incredibly promising, and Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen in the frontcourt make Cleveland even more dangerous. Fans cannot wait to see their favorite stars in action for the team soon.
Donovan Mitchell Shared Pictures From Training With The Cleveland Cavaliers
Mitchell shared pictures from his initial training sessions, having joined up with the team. Jarrett Allen is visible in the pictures, and it seems like the young guard is already getting to know his new teammates. The situation is an entirely new one for Mitchell, but he has all the tools necessary to thrive with his new team.

“New beginnings.”
It must be said that the colors are suiting Mitchell as he looks forward to his first season with a team that is not the Jazz. The Eastern Conference has a lot of good teams, especially the ones at the top, but this addition will make Cleveland feel like they have every opportunity to go up against any one of them.
The new NBA season will begin on October 18th, and while training camp and all of those things will be important, it cannot hurt the team if they get an early start on bedding their new acquisition in. Team chemistry is incredibly important to success, and with all the right pieces now in place, the Cavaliers will be hoping they can have a really special season.
