Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time in the NBA. He was an ultra-competitive athlete who pushed himself to great lengths in order to achieve all that he did on the court, and for an individual like him, life post-retirement wasn’t going to be easy.
He needed something to keep his competitive juices flowing, and that is where golf came in. Jordan, who played a lot of golf even during his playing days, found a lot of joy in the sport and once stated that for a competitive person like him, golf is what keeps him sane. Considering the fact that MJ hates losing at anything he takes part in, he has worked hard on his golf skills, which explains why he is so good at it, and JR Smith found that out the hard way.

JR is quite the accomplished golfer in his own right, having made it to the golf team for the university he enrolled in, and he has made his NCAA Golf debut as well. With those credentials, JR faced off against Jordan, but unfortunately for him, it didn’t end well.

“Man, it was unbelievable. It was one of the most childish feelings I’ve felt as a grown ass man. He smoked me.” When asked how badly Jordan beat him, J.R added, “The first round we ended up even. In the second round, he smoked me by like three shots.”
JR also added that MJ talked s**t the whole time, and he shared the best trash talk he got from Jordan.
“So we was betting, right? I doubled down on my bets and I was like 5 front, 5 back, and 5 overall. He was like ‘alright cool.’ I said ‘whoa, Hundreds, not Thousands, Hundreds.’ He was like, ‘no, I know what you’re talking about. I know what you meant.’ and then he threw this jab at me, low-key and I was just like, ‘Ooh, that was a good one.’, he said ‘Yeah, you had a good career. It wasn’t a great one. You had a good one.'”
That is as savage as it can get! Jordan was obviously taking a shot at Smith by saying he doesn’t have deep pockets like MJ to be able to bet thousands, and even JR had to admit that was a really good one.
Jordan is clearly just as ruthless with his trash-talking as he was during his playing career, and JR was the unfortunate victim here. Whoever is planning to face off against MJ on the Golf course in the future, better brace themselves for some epic trash talk.
