The Brooklyn Nets were involved in a series of rumors during the offseason, especially after Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were linked with moves away from Barclays Center. Kyrie was placed in Los Angeles as the Lakers were reportedly keen to land him, while Durant was involved in rumors with the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, among others, in the past couple of months.

Both players are staying put in Brooklyn, as the team decided to run it back with Irving for at least one more season, while Durant couldn’t find a team willing to disburse the package the Nets wanted for him. Now, they’re ready to compete and show the world that they can win after two disappointing seasons.

It was reported that the Nets were waiting to see what move they’d make for KD before deciding on Kyrie’s future, but now those questions are off the table. Still, many people debated which one between these two was the most important player.

David Aldridge Says The Nets Would Struggle To Replace Kyrie Irving, Not Kevin Durant

Many people would claim that Durant is more important to the Nets than Kyrie, but not for NBA insider David Aldridge. The journalist recently made the case for the 2016 NBA champion on The Athletic NBA Show, saying that what Kyrie brings to the table is unique, and it’s hard to find that in the league.

“I don’t think they can replace Kyrie. It sounds crazy, I think they can more easily replace KD than they can replace Kyrie, ’cause nobody does what Kyrie does!” Aldridge claimed.

Kyrie Irving is a very talented player who can do incredible things on the court. It’s well known that he can do a lot of damage with the ball in his hands, and even though he works better as a sidekick, there are not many people that can beat him at that job.

Aldridge might have a solid point with his claims, but Kevin Durant is also a generational talent that can do everything you can think of on the court. At the end of the day, this becomes a personal choice for people, but for Aldridge, the decision seems to be very easy.
