Cleveland Cavaliers Acquire Donovan Mitchell From Utah Jazz

2 Min Read

The Cleveland Cavaliers are shocking the world as they have traded for Donovan Mitchell. The Utah Jazz’s young star was linked with a move away from Vivint Arena for a while now, but everything pointed out that the New York Knicks would be the ones taking his services.

The New Yorkers appeared to be favorites to secure this move, but the Cavaliers did their thing without making a lot of noise and now land a terrific player that will take their game to the next level.

The Cavs already had a solid 2021/22 NBA season, reaching the play-in tournament. Now, with this move, they are set to go further than that and compete to be a top-5 team in the Eastern Conference.

Cleveland Cavaliers Trade For Donovan Mitchell

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that the Cavaliers are landing Mitchell from the Jazz. In exchange, the Cavs are sending three unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps as part of the deal to Utah for Mitchell.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports adds that the Cavs will also include Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, and Ochai Agbaji as part of the deal, making this a solid package for the Jazz.

In recent days, the Miami Heat also sounded as strong candidates to land Mitchell, but the Cavaliers have shocked the world, acquiring the biggest player on the trade block. This move will have repercussions around the league, as teams like the Knicks, Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers were all linked with some sort of move for Spida.

In the end, it was the Cavaliers who got the last laugh and now can enjoy an electrifying player that will be great alongside Darius Garland and Evan Mobley.
