Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner is generally considered one of the best role players in the league. He is an elite rim protector that can also shoot the ball from the 3PT range, and it is clear that this is the sort of skillset that people would want in a non-star center. This past season, Myles Turner averaged 12.9 PPG, 7.1 RPG, and 2.8 BPG for the Indiana Pacers while shooting 33.3% from beyond the arc.

Myles Turner’s contract with the Indiana Pacers will expire at the end of the 2021-22 season, which will allow him to become an unrestricted free agent. According to NBA insider Michael Scotto, Myles Turner is seeking $20 million annually with his new contract, which is an increase from his current compensation. (20:30)

“Myles Turner is going to be a free agent this summer, and he’s going to want a pay raise from what he’s making now. From what I’ve heard, easily they’re going to be looking to try and get $20 million plus.

Obviously, there’s no guarantee that Myles Turner will end up getting the contract he desires. However, a lot of teams in the league can use a player with his talents. He has previously been linked with the Los Angeles Lakers, frequently being mentioned in mock trades alongside teammate Buddy Hield. A report from earlier in the summer suggested that Myles Turner would be open to moving to the Los Angeles Lakers. Perhaps we will see him get moved there in the future.

“Turner, for his part, has been open to a trade out of Indiana going back two years, and he was expecting to be dealt at last season’s deadline instead of Sabonis. A source with knowledge of the situation told Heavy.com, ‘Of course he would be open to a trade to the Lakers.’

As of right now, though, Myles Turner is likely preparing for the season with the Indiana Pacers. It will be interesting to see how well he meshes with point guard Tyrese Haliburton, and perhaps he could still be a long-term player for the Indiana Pacers.

There is a chance that the Indiana Pacers will move Myles Turner prior to next year’s trade deadline if they cannot figure out an extension with him and his representation. It is clear that they will have to pay well to retain him, and we’ll see what happens with Myles Turner in the future.
