For the last few weeks, most expected the Brooklyn Nets to enter a rebuilding phase with rumors of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant leaving the team. But it’s very hard to predict what will happen in the NBA and the drama around the Nets’ two superstars is the perfect example of it.
The two superstars aren’t going anywhere and will be given a shot at playing once again for the Brooklyn Nets in the 2022-23 NBA team. Along with the dynamic duo, the Nets also have Ben Simmons, whose addition makes the team jump to contender status.
But it feels like we are seeing a repeat telecast of the previous season. Last season, most analysts believed the Nets would be the team to defeat in the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately, come playoff time, the Nets couldn’t even get out of the first round of playoffs.
Will this season be any different? Well, many like to think so. However, NBA analyst Bill Simmons believes the Nets are once again heading towards an absolute disaster of a season. He blamed the presence of Kyrie Irving on the team for his prediction.
(Starts at 5:38):
“The media microscope of just every move, quote, everything is gonna be dissected and somebody like Kyrie, he has something every day. He can’t help himself. I think it’s gonna be a soap opera and a mess, and if you could tell me this is actually gonna be great or this is gonna be an absolute disaster, I would go absolute disaster.”
Simmons has seemingly made it his mission to break the bubble around Kyrie Irving being considered an NBA superstar.
Previously, he hammered Irving for not showing up in the playoffs for the last five years or so. In the same video, he said that Irving would be the reason why the Nets are heading towards a disastrous season.
