Michael Jordan Once Reached Out To An Autistic Fan Of His Who Was Ridiculed For Wearing His Attire In A Pickup Game

2 Min Read

Michael Jordan wasn’t exactly known to be the nicest guy around during his time in the NBA, and not much changed with regards to that perception of him post-retirement either. He is someone who has been regarded as cold and ruthless, but even MJ has a soft side to him, which shows itself every now and then.

Back in 2016, a video had actually gone viral on social media of a man named Jeffrey Harrison playing a pickup game while dressed in full Jordan attire. As is the case in the world that we live in nowadays, he was ridiculed on social media for it, and it was later revealed that he was autistic.

As the news spread, Jordan heard about it, and he responded by sending two boxes of his gear which included shoes, t-shirts, shorts, and a lot more. There was also a note sent along with it, which included a special message.

“I saw the video of you playing pick-up basketball in my Chicago Bulls uniform and thought it was great! I’ve enclosed a few items that I thought you might like.

My fans are really special to me. Thank you for your support over the years. Continue to believe in yourself, play hard and always remember to enjoy the game.

Your friend,

Michael”

Jordan even called Harrison in what was undoubtedly an unforgettable experience for him.

The call ended on a touching note, as Harrison told Jordan that he loved him, and MJ responded by saying he loved him too, which was very special to watch. Harrison is a die-hard Jordan fan who had been wearing that attire to games since 2010, and it would have meant the world to him to hear MJ say that.

Jordan also recently made a lady’s day by dancing with her at a party, and he might be more of a people person than one would normally imagine him to be.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
