Skip Bayless Takes A Big Shot At Stephen Curry While Dubbing Kevin Durant The Best Player In The World: “You’re Telling Me The Greatest Player On The Planet Is The Same Steph Curry Who Epically Failed In The 2016 Finals?”

Stephen Curry is surely one of the best players in the league right now. The spearhead of the Golden State Warriors dynasty, Curry, emerged as a superstar in the league back in 2015. Ever since then, it’s safe to say that the game hasn’t been the same.

While Curry has won two MVP trophies so far in his career, Steph often hasn’t been the standout name in the debate for the best player in the league until recently. Much of it was due to the lack of a Finals MVP trophy. Given that the 34-year-old did not win a single Finals MVP trophy, many pundits were critical of Curry for not being the most influential player in the Finals. But the 8-time All-Star put it all to the rest in the 2021-22 Finals.

While in the last 2 championships, Curry had a star like Kevin Durant who could lead the offensive load. This season the 2-time MVP had to shoulder much of the Warriors’ scoring load, and that he did. Leading the Warriors to a championship and winning the Finals MVP trophy as well, Steph is now widely considered the best player in the league.

But analyst Skip Bayless doesn’t think so. In a recent episode of the Undisputed, Bayless and Shannon Sharpe, who they would pick between Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. While Sharpe picked Curry, Skip criticized the guard and had some harsh words for the 2-time MVP.

“You’re telling me the Greatest Player on the Planet is the same Steph Curry who epically failed in the 2016 Finals that he went and recruited the man in question to save his legacy? He doesn’t have the closure gene.”

This is certainly a blasphemous take from Bayless. Although Curry and Co. did choke in the 2016 Finals, over the years, the guard has shown why he is a capable enough leader. This was visible in this season’s Finals as well. While the likes of Durant struggled against the Boston Celtics, it was Curry who dismantled the Eastern Conference champions in the Finals.

Claiming that Steph isn’t on the same level as Durant is absurd and coming from an analyst like Bayless, it isn’t much of a surprise.
