The New York Knicks made a massive move this offseason when they cleared out cap space with multiple picks to be able to lure Jalen Brunson away from the Dallas Mavericks with an extremely attractive contract offer. The Knicks also employ Brunson’s father as an assistant coach and are currently run by William Wesley, Brunson’s godfather and his dad’s old agent.
Brunson moving back East has been a blessing for him from a family perspective, and he doesn’t have to play second fiddle to another point guard anymore. JB has excelled behind Luka Doncic and proved his value in the 2022 playoffs, playing as the Mavs’ secondary star behind Luka in their run to the Western Conference Finals.
Brunson is getting his work in this summer as the primary guard on the Knicks roster. He linked up with his new teammates in a disappointing pro-am performance earlier this month but was seen putting in work at a basketball camp in New Jersey.

Brunson was a fan favorite in Dallas, but he can be a part of one of the most successful Knicks teams in a very long time. If they can acquire Donovan Mitchell without sacrificing any of their other marquee players in Julius Randle and RJ Barrett, the Knicks may be in a very good position to make a playoff push in the East.
Brunson has proven he can be a postseason performer in 2022, especially after disappointing performances in the years prior against the LA Clippers. The Knicks have been looking for a point guard like him for a while.
If the Knicks can make it back to the playoffs this season, everyone will be very impressed. A possible push towards the top-half of the table will be expected if they acquire Mitchell, so the Knicks are strapping in for what could be a massive season for the franchise and the direction they’re taking.
