The Los Angeles Clippers will be one of the best teams in the NBA next year, and many believe that they will have a chance to win the 2023 NBA championship. They have a solid veteran roster with some players that have championship experience such as Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell.
There is no doubt that people who watch the league are taking notice of what the Clippers are doing. Recently, former Lakers player Derek Fisher has claimed that it’s “legitimately possible” that the Clippers get out of the West before the Lakers “based on the way the teams are currently constructed”. Joey Linn of Sports Illustrated relayed the news.
“I think that Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the combination of those two guys – when you think about what the Boston Celtics were able to do with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as that kind of duo, Kawhi and Paul George are the grown man version of those two guys,” Fisher said.
“I think the Clippers have as good of a chance at anybody of coming out of the West,” Fisher said. “I don’t know if LA is prepared for the Clippers to come out of the West before the Lakers do, but it’s legitimately possible based on the way the teams are currently constructed, and we’re just gonna have to see how the season plays out.”
Obviously, talent on paper doesn’t necessarily translate to winning championships, and the Los Angeles Clippers will have to do some gelling and chemistry building next season. They added a notable player in John Wall this offseason, so integrating him into the team’s system will be key.
Hopefully, we see the Clippers win at least one championship during the Kawhi Leonard-Paul George era. It would be amazing to see the franchise win their first ring under the two superstars, and their talent level suggests that it is possible that will happen next season.
