Jayson Tatum is the main star of the Boston Celtics, having won an Eastern Conference Finals MVP and carried the team to the NBA Finals. Everything seemed just fine after the team made it to within two games of winning it all and acquired Malcolm Brogdon. But the opportunity to land Kevin Durant was quite lucrative, with the Cs reportedly making an offer for the former MVP.

This offer included Jaylen Brown, who is the undisputed 2nd star on the team. And considering that the deal didn’t get done, he was understandably not too happy about it. There have been suggestions that Tatum could be traded for KD, too, although that would be extremely unlikely considering his stature with the team at this point.

JT was asked about the Celtics’ situation though, about whether he had spoken to any of his teammates about them coming back. His reaction was a simple one, he expects everyone to return to the team.

“I mean, we don’t have no free agents on this team, so everybody gotta comeback.”

The Celtics have a roster that has grown together and taken many steps in the playoffs together. Their climb towards success has been a steep one, but one that they can say is homegrown. Tatum and Brown will both believe they have what it takes to bring a championship to Boston, and they will need their solid supporting cast to make that happen.

Getting Kevin Durant is an opportunity that doesn’t present itself often, so the Celtics trying to make a move is understandable. However, they have all the pieces at this moment to get to the next level and if they can focus on improvement instead, they might just be able to build a dynasty of their own. There is no way to tell what will happen though. Conversations are still likely on about a potential trade even if they have calmed down.
