Toronto Raptors Fans Refused To Talk Trash To The Golden State Warriors During The 2019 NBA Finals: “We Are Polite, We Are Canadians”

The 2019 NBA Finals were one of the most entertaining in recent years. Even though we didn’t reach a Game 7, we saw six competitive games between the defensive specialists Toronto Raptors and overpowered Golden State Warriors. Led by Kawhi Leonard, the Canadians would shock the world by beating the Dubs to win their first-ever NBA championship.

It was a great series from start to finish, with people in the Bay trying to get under the Raptors’ skin to get an advantage for this series. As we all know, that didn’t work, and the Raptors secured their championship in a good way. While the Warriors fans were ready to use any tactic to win the mental game, the Raptors fanbase was different.

Canadian people are known for being extremely polite, and not even the NBA Finals can change that. An old video shared by Hoops Nation reveals how cool Raptors fans are since they refused to trash talk the Warriors during the 2019 Finals.

“No! We don’t do that here,” one fan said.

“I would not do that against anybody. Canadians don’t do that,” one lady stated.

“No, no, no, no. We are polite, we are Canadians,” one gentleman said before laughing.

“I mean, they’re a great team, I don’t think I can trash talk them. I think they’re in the Finals for a reason,” a young woman explained.

“Why would I trash talk them? They haven’t done nothing wrong to me… Or my team. All I’m saying is everybody’s playing right. So, if they want to win, they better play better than us,” one fan said.

“You’re losing tonight! You’re losing! That’s it. That’s my trash talk,” one fan said, confirming that they couldn’t be rude even if they wanted to.

Seeing how friendly these people were, it’s more shocking to remember that when Kevin Durant suffered a season-ending injury, fans at the arena celebrated. It’s good to see that most of the fans were actually really nice, and some didn’t even dare to say bad words to the Warriors. The Raptors are still trying to return to the Finals after losing Kawhi that offseason, while the Warriors celebrated another championship last month.
