Joel Embiid is having a nice time this offseason after finishing a tumultuous 2021/22 NBA campaign with the Philadelphia 76ers. After they finally dealt Ben Simmons to the Brooklyn Nets and landed James Harden in the process, the team had high expectations going into the playoffs, but once again, they failed to get past the second round of the postseason.

This summer, they re-signed James Harden, added PJ Tucker to their ranks, and are waiting to see what other player they could land in free agency. Meanwhile, their superstar is having a fun time, playing pickup games, and messing with average people at the park.

He was recently spotted playing some ball against regular ballers, trolling one of them with the ball before getting a bucket. A recent video shared by Redditor “daftmunt” shows Embiid playing a pickup game with a group of men. He first passes the ball to somebody to attack the rim, this person takes the defenders with him before giving the ball back to Embiid.

What happens next is the funny part of the footage. Joel gets the ball, easily handles it with one hand, and then faces his opponent. He gets ready to attack the rim but first bounces the ball off his rival’s face, gets it back, and goes for a big dunk while the defender apparently laughs and chases Embiid to try to block his shot.

Of course, that didn’t happen, and Joel finished the rim with a huge hammer, getting a big bucket to help his squad. The clip is short but entertaining, showing what Embiid is doing during his free time.

He’s definitely playing with a chip on his shoulder next season after losing the MVP award this campaign. Both he and his team want to improve their level and compete for bigger things in a stacked Eastern Conference.
