Draymond Green has been described as the soul of this iteration of the Golden State Warriors. Even though his stats are far from flashy, Draymond is the player that makes everything come together for the Warriors, and it has led to 4 NBA championships making GSW the latest dynasty in the NBA.

Green has received 2 contracts worth over $80 million since 2015, but he has yet to sign a max contract in his career. And having made immense contributions to the success the team has enjoyed, it seems he believes that this is the time for him to be paid one. A report from The Athletic suggested that Green is looking for a 4-year extension after the end of next season, worth over $30 million each year.

Considering that he will be 33 by the time this hypothetical new deal begins, it remains to be seen if the Warriors wish to commit that much salary to Draymond. And the fans certainly seem to think it’s unlikely, with most suggesting that this might mean the end of Green as a Warrior.

“This might be the end of his time in Golden State.”

“No chance Golden State ties up max space to Draymond.”

“He deserves it, but on the other hand, he’s only going to decline moving forward.”

“I love Draymond so much, but no.”

“Klutch got you talking crazy bro that’s not happening.”

“Thanks for a great career Dray we loved your time here.”

“Draymond deserves what he wants, but this might be too much.”

“I don’t wanna see Dray in another jersey man.”

“This would be too much, no cap.”

“Draymond’s run as a Warrior was special.”

“We saw the Warriors without Curry/Klay my mans was awful.”

“The Warriors don’t win without him. But I don’t think he’s worth more than 15 million a year to any other team.”

This is a tough situation for the Warriors considering Draymond’s importance to the team. He has been a foundational piece in their championships, but his production makes it hard to justify a max. Also, considering that the franchise is thinking about developing its young core, Dray’s wants may not fit the organization’s vision.
