The 2021-22 NBA season saw the emergence of the Memphis Grizzlies in a way no one expected. While they were expected to be in the mix for the Playoffs, nobody expected them to have the second-best record in the NBA and make a playoff run. Their playoff runs aw them eliminated in the second round to the Golden State Warriors but it was a great year as a whole for the team.
The series against Golden State was a little chippy with players jawing at each other throughout. The fans of both the franchises got into it also as a new generation rivalry was born with these two teams.
After the Warriors won the title, there were a lot of shots that they took against the Grizzlies for their bitter 6-game series. This was seen through Klay Thompson passive aggressively talking about Jaren Jackson Jr and calling him a ‘freaking bum’. Morant has responded to the Grizzlies taking up mental space on the players.
"If I won a championship, I wouldn't think about no other team or what somebody said months ago" 👀

“If I won a championship, I wouldn’t think about no other team or what somebody said months ago. I would be celebrating the championship and be happy with my teammates. As you saw, after they won the championship, Everything was Grizzlies. Playing whoop that trick at the parade, showing it in the club, talking about Jaren, I just feel like you can say anything if you win. I lost, but Imma still be Ja at the end of the day.”
The Grizzlies have to go through the grind of another season and repeat what they achieved this year to prove it wasn’t a fluke. They have a solid core that can only get better with age.
They have added veterans like Danny Green to the roster this offseason and will hope that the experience of a player like that will help them make it further in the playoffs and possibly upset the Warriors next season.
