2022 NBA Free Agency: Los Angeles Clippers Will Sign John Wall After He Clears Waivers

Without Paul George and Kawhi Leonard this season, the Clippers had no hope of making any kind of run. Their ceiling was low, media coverage was almost nonexistent, and the team spent most of the year in obscurity as the Celtics, Warriors, and dysfunctional Lakers controlled the headlines. Soon, all that will change.

Next season, the Clips will be at full strength for the first time in many, many months and they are going to be competing for a title.

In fact, they may have some extra help for that mission in the form of 5x All-Star John Wall. While he did recently accept his $47 million player option, there are talks of a buyout that could make him a free agent this summer.  According to Adrian Wojnarowski, he is planning to sign with the team when he clears waivers.

Other teams are calling to pursue Wall in free agency, but his intention is to join the Clippers, sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/6aSX4UfLBc

It’s no wonder why Wall chose the Clippers. He’ll get to live and work in Los Angeles while competing for a championship. He’ll probably even get the starting point guard job, too, considering he will be the team’s top floor general.

John Wall isn’t the same player he used to be. After suffering several major injuries over the past few years, he’s a shell of himself that still draws a lot of questions.

But Wall can still play, as he proved last season when he averaged 20.6 points in 40 games for the Rockets.

It’s hard to say for sure what Wall brings to the table at this point in his career. Alongside two proven stars like Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, he could really thrive and the Clippers could finally make amends for their history of failures.
