Paolo Banchero was a highly touted prospect ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft, and he was selected No. 1 by the Orlando Magic. The team clearly believes in his upside as a scoring big man, and we’ll see how good he becomes in the future.

When speaking to Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic, Paolo Banchero has stated that he thinks that he can be a “frontline star” for the Orlando Magic, claiming that his ceiling is “limitless”.

The Magic must hope he can be the one to resurrect the franchise, which has had eight losing seasons in its last 10. It has had numerous lottery picks in that time but hadn’t found a pillar it could build around as a frontline star.

Banchero believes he can be that kind of player.

“My ceiling is as high as I want it to be,” he said. “Which is limitless. I set a lot of goals for myself every stage of my career. So I want to do all that — NBA Rookie of the Year, be an All-Star, make the playoffs, everything a basketball player on this stage would want to do, I want to do, plus more. But at first, I want to win. That’s the most important thing.”

Jabari Smith Jr. was originally expected to be the No. 1 pick, but it is clear that the Orlando Magic decided to go with Paolo Banchero’s upside instead. Hopefully, that choice ends up being the correct one. They do have a good history with drafting No. 1, so perhaps Paolo Banchero can be the next Orlando Magic superstar.

Some NBA fans have already started speculating about Paolo Banchero potentially joining the Los Angeles Lakers in the future after it was revealed that he was a Lakers fan in the past. However, right now, he is a member of the Orlando Magic, and hopefully, Banchero can bring them back to the playoffs.
