Patrick Beverley has never been one to hold back his opinions, and his latest take on NBA players is no exception. On The Pat Bev Pod with Rone, the outspoken guard claimed that 83% of NBA players are “lame as f**k”, citing examples of players who he believes don’t carry themselves the right way.

“I’m sitting at dinner like, let me see how this motherf***er uses his cutlery. Why is his napkin on his lap? Where was he raised? Lame as hell. I gave him the max, and he doesn’t even know how to use cutlery.”

“He doesn’t even know how to put his fork back on the plate. I look at everything wrong, and that gives me my answers right there. This motherfucker’s lame. Not only lame… he’s an L7. Square…”

Beverley, known for his fiery personality and relentless competitiveness, took aim at how some players handle themselves both on and off the court. He explained that he evaluates people based on their everyday habits, from how they use their cutlery at dinner to how they conduct themselves in professional situations.

Beverley then brought up Tim Hardaway Jr. as a prime example of what he considers lame behavior.

He recalled a conversation they had while vacationing in Mykonos, Greece, where Hardaway expressed frustration about his role with the Dallas Mavericks. According to Beverley, Hardaway wanted to leave Dallas because he felt Luka Doncic dominated the ball too much.

“Tim Hardaway Jr. I look at him differently. We’re in Mykonos, Greece—me, PG, Pat Patterson, Big Zu. I see Tim Hardaway Jr., and he goes, ‘Yeah, man, trying to get out of Dallas.’ I go, ‘Why? That’d be the worst thing you’ve ever done. Why are you trying to leave Dallas?'”

“‘Yeah, man, I just want the ball more, you know. Luka got the ball more.’ He should. Run your a** to the corner and shoot open threes all day. ‘You mean, are you fighting with Luka?’ ‘Yeah, man, I ain’t feeling that s**t.’I said, ‘Okay.’ I told PG, ‘His a** gonna be traded in a year.'”

“Nine months later, his a** is in Detroit. Lame! But it’s cool, though. Ain’t nothing wrong with being lame.”

Hardaway, who now plays for the Detroit Pistons, is currently having one of his worst seasons. He is averaging 10.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, while shooting 40.6% from the field and 36.1% from three. Beverley’s comments suggest that he saw this decline coming, attributing it to Hardaway’s mindset rather than his skills.

When asked whether a star player could still be considered lame, Beverley doubled down, saying it could actually hurt the team.

“It actually hurts the team. Now you’re thinking like, ‘I’m a role player, but man, I gotta listen to this lame-a** motherf***er. Man, this motherf***er… he get all this money, man, what the f**k is he talking about, dog? Like, he’s lame as hell. A lot of lame, rich motherf***ers.'”

Beverley’s comments highlight the divide between certain NBA players who prioritize winning and those who may struggle with their roles. His direct, unfiltered perspective has always been part of his persona, and this latest rant is another example of why he’s one of the league’s most polarizing figures.

Whether his 83% estimate is accurate or just an exaggeration for entertainment, one thing is clear—Beverley has no patience for what he sees as lame behavior in the NBA.
