Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have fulfilled the expectations placed on their young shoulders when they were both drafted in 2017 and 2016 respectively. Both players were expected to develop into superstars who would lead the next generation of Boston Celtics back to the NBA mountaintop.

Tatum recently spoke about the chemistry he has been able to develop with Brown, noting that it took a while but things turned out great. While the road leading up to the moment had a few unexpected twists and turns, they’ve finally been able to do so, as they led the Celtics to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.

After the buzzer sounded on Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and the Boston Celtics began celebrating reaching the NBA Finals. As the league officials began preparing for the trophy ceremony, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown shared a hug.

Tatum was heard telling Jaylen Brown that the rest of the NBA thought they couldn’t play with each other and that they should be split. Clearly, the Celtics didn’t pay head to those thoughts and have now reaped the rewards.

“They said we couldn’t play together!”

Jayson Tatum was named the Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP. For Tatum, to win an award named after a Celtics legend, while he himself is set to be the next superstar for the historic franchise, will be a moment he will never forget.

Tatum spoke after the game about winning the award, noting that he feels like a kid living out his childhood dream. The celebrations will not last long, as the Celtics will be looking toward Thursday’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

For the NBA Finals, the Warriors will be considered the favorites, as they have way more championship experience than the Celtics. But the way the Celtics have been playing, completing a revenge tour on the last three teams that eliminated them from the playoffs, they have shown the Warriors that they are not a team to be taken lightly.
