Kevin Garnett ran his mouth like few have ever done on an NBA court and there might have been a few times when he stepped out of line. One such famous occasion that comes to my mind is when he and Carmelo Anthony went at each other.

During the fourth quarter of a game between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks in January 2013, Garnett appeared to say something to Melo which angered the Knicks superstar and he even waited for Garnett by the Celtics team bus after the game. There was speculation that KG said Melo’s wife tasted like ‘Honey Nut Cheerios’ but that had been dismissed by Garnett and LaLa since then. Someone who was around that situation back then was Iman Shumpert who played for the Knicks and he was asked about it during an interview with Vlad TV:

“I don’t know the specific thing, I just know there was a s*** my d*** attached. I was actually hurt that game too, so I was floating in and out of going to the locker room and getting whatever treatment rehab then I come sit out there for a little bit in my seat…. I remember Melo being like cottonmouth mad. Like he just wasn’t letting it go but it was like I don’t know, a grown man saying something like that.”

Saying something like that could definitely trigger certain people a lot and it does seem like we have some clarity on the subject after all these years, as Melo and KG never spoke about what was said. The two are now cool with each other, which is a good thing, and LaLa wrote in her book “The Love Playbook” in 2014, that the incident is now just a faint memory.

Shumpert also had a lot of other interesting things to say during the interview, including a wide range of NBA topics, as he defended Russell Westbrook among other things.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
