Chet Holmgren Fires A Warning To Luka Doncic: “I’ll See You Out There Next Year”

Chet Holmgren may lack some strength in that body of his but if there is one thing he absolutely doesn’t lack in, it is confidence in himself. The former Gonzaga man is in contention to be the #1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and he has had a lot to say about his NBA prospects.

When he was asked during an interview with Bleacher Report Hoops about who was the best player in the NBA, Holmgren remarked “Myself… in two months”. He is definitely backing himself to make an impact in the league and he had a little something to say to Luka Doncic as well after Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals:

Chet Holmgren to Luka Doncic: “I’ll see you out there next year.”

Ben Golliver of the Washington Post tweeted out a line from a conversation between the two and it really is no surprise to see Holmgren say something like this. He just needs to make sure he backs up all this talk when he gets to the league, or else people will bring stuff like this up for eternity. He should be able to do it, provided he bulks up a bit, as he has all the skills to be a superstar in the league.

Holmgren brings almost the complete package, a 7-footer who can handle the ball, create his own shot, and of course, he can knock them down from beyond the arc as well. He is also an elite shot-blocker who finished his lone season at Gonzaga with averages of 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game. Under the right guidance and provided he gets some time, he should be a success and he might be the guy to bring the Orlando Magic back to relevancy for the first time since the days of Dwight Howard.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
