Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are often credited with revolutionizing the NBA. The Golden State Warriors were able to launch a dynasty on their backs, as their incredible shooting prowess allowed them to become superstars in the NBA, and lead the Warriors to 5 straight NBA Finals and 3 NBA championships.

A lot of teams have tried to emulate their playing style, but haven’t been able to find the same success as them.

Former Golden State Warriors player Andrew Bogut, who played with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, was asked why other NBA teams haven’t been able to emulate their offensive style.

Bogut gave a very simple answer in response, stating that the teams that tried to play the same offensive style as the Warriors had one problem; they didn’t have Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson.

Andrew Bogut on why teams try and fail to replicate the Warriors offensive play style:

“They don’t have Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.”

Curry and Klay Thompson are considered two of the greatest shooters of all time. And so, they were able to inspire many NBA players and teams to adopt their strategy of shooting many three-pointers and relying almost entirely on the three-point shot.

Curry and Thompson’s influence on the game can be seen in young players like Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, and Luka Doncic, who are all incredible shooters and use the shot as their primary offensive tool.

But while teams have tried to employ their strategy and put it to good use, they have failed to find the same kind of success as the Golden State Warriors.

Considering the level of shooters Curry and Thompson are, they are the safest bets to make any shot they attempt.

Whereas other players in the NBA, no matter how good they may be, are not the shooters that Steph and Klay are, and so, it is natural that they won’t be able to find as much success as they do while playing that style.
