Patrick Beverley Jokingly Says LeBron James Could Come To Minnesota: “Hey Listen, Great People… The Taxes Are Much, Much Lower Than LA.”

3 Min Read

Patrick Beverley has been having a jolly old time on ESPN shows from Monday. He spent a good portion of Monday morning laying into Chris Paul following Phoenix’s terrible performance against the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7. He appeared on ESPN’s show Get Up on Tuesday morning though, and was in a much more positive mood, even indulging in what some may call light tampering.

Beverley has been a catalyst for the Minnesota Timberwolves since being traded to the team. He was instrumental in securing a winning season and helped the Wolves reach the first round of the playoffs after they beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the play-in. And while the future is bright for the Wolves, Bev is trying to ensure that it looks even brighter.

In a discussion on the show about LeBron James and his ability to win another title for the rest of his career, there was some discussion about if he could leave LA. And Bev half-jokingly suggested that Minnesota is an option, citing some off-court reasons that could be enticing. This comes after he recently also said that he would love to play with James

Or, you know, Minnesota. Who knows?” Beverley said. “Hey listen, great people there. Oh my goodness, it’s great people. Even during the winters, you see the snow. The trees change colors, man. The taxes are much, much lower than L.A.”

It’s almost outside the realms of possibility that LeBron James would go to Minnesota even if the superstar and the Lakers did decide to part ways. Understandably, Beverley would try though, there’s not a team in the NBA that wouldn’t want LeBron James on their squad.

The Wolves have plenty to look forward to without that though, Anthony Edwards looks ready to leap into becoming a superstar, and their young core has shown flashes of promise. Even though they didn’t manage it last season, it would be possible that Beverley and the Timberwolves could win a playoff series next season.
