Bones Hyland came into his own with the Denver Nuggets this season, becoming a fan favorite thanks to his incredible story and the fact that he stepped up to provide Nikola Jokic some help in the absence of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. And Hyland isn’t done backing up Jokic either, taking to Twitter to defend his superstar teammate after Adrian Wojnarowski announced that Jokic will be announced as the MVP for this season.

A lot of fans were upset with the news, with many believing that Joel Embiid or Giannis Antetokounmpo deserved to be named MVP more than Jokic did, but there seem to be no doubts in Hyland’s mind. Bones went as far as to say that the MVP race wasn’t even close and that he was ready to take on anyone in an argument if they disagreed.

“No way people don’t think Jok ain’t MVP again.. not going for that I’ll argue wit the whole timeline on why he is Really my boy man he was UNSTOPPABLE ALL SEASON!!!!!!!! MVP RACE wasn’t even CLOSE.”

If history is anything to go by, Nikola Jokic doesn’t care much about the award himself, having explained earlier in the season that he doesn’t even know where his trophy from last year is. While that may be quite funny to think about, it shows that the big man isn’t too worried about winning individual glory especially if it’s not helping the team.

Joel Embiid is likely feeling slighted, he spoke earlier in the season about not knowing what to do if this season isn’t enough for him to win the award. However, Jokic’s incredible season, which involved him leading the league in stats like win shares, VORP, and PER along with carrying the Nuggets into the playoffs with no All-Stars around him is hard to argue against when it comes to the MVP award.
