Draymond Green is one of the best defenders in the league. He’s a 5 position defender that is capable of anchoring a championship-level defense. He has been a crucial player for the Golden State Warriors this postseason.

During his career, Draymond Green has developed a reputation as a defender that can be overly aggressive and physical. That part of his game showed today when he got called for a Flagrant 2 after fouling Brandon Clarke and was subsequently ejected.

After the game, Brandon Clarke claimed that he wasn’t surprised about Draymond Green committing a flagrant foul on him. He claimed that Draymond Green was “known” for committing flagrant fouls in his career.

He’s been known for flagrant fouls in his career. I’ve watched him on TV my whole life it seems like. So I wasn’t really shocked. I don’t really like to flop or nothing, but he did hit me pretty hard twice really, when I saw it again… I’m not really worried about it or nothing. It’s not shocking that he did that, its something he’s done in the past.

While obviously Brandon Clarke was fouled pretty hard by Draymond Green, some have criticized the officials for ejecting him. The playoffs are generally more physical than the regular season, and perhaps some more contact should have been allowed by the officials. However, at the end of the day, Draymond Green’s ejection didn’t end up messing up too much for the Warriors, as they ended up winning the game regardless.

The Golden State Warriors are now up 1-0 on the Memphis Grizzlies, and this was a great start to their second round. They have the talent to potentially win the NBA championship this season, and perhaps we’ll see them do so. As of now though, they need to focus on winning the series against the Memphis Grizzlies, and they have already taken the first step to doing so.
