The New Orleans Pelicans have managed to upset the Phoenix Suns in Game 2 of their series, which was an outcome that not a lot of people expected. Of course, Devin Booker’s injury played a role in that, but that was an impressive win for New Orleans nonetheless.
With Devin Booker potentially missing Game 3 and Game 4 of the series, there has been some talk about the New Orleans Pelicans potentially getting an upset. The Phoenix Suns are still a good team and should be the favorites, but the New Orleans Pelicans have a better chance of pulling off an upset than they did prior to Booker’s injury.
Draymond Green has recently claimed that the Pelicans have the best two players in the series in CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram, given the fact that Devin Booker is out. (13:58)
That loss (Booker’s injury) gives New Orleans the two best players on the court. Which is hard to overcome. No disrespect to CP. CP is 37. I don’t personally think CP is going to give you all of that for 48 straight minutes at this age.
There is no doubt that injuries can affect the way a series goes. Losing their best player for the Phoenix Suns will hurt, and it is time for their supplementary players such as Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges to step up next to Chris Paul to carry the scoring load for the team.
With that being said, Draymond Green is right about saying that Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum could end up being the best players in the series with Devin Booker sidelined. Both players are prolific from the midrange area, with CJ McCollum also being able to stretch his range to beyond the arc.
Hopefully, Devin Booker is able to get back sooner rather than later. It is clear that this series has become much closer with his injury, and the Suns will need to find a way to make do without their star.
