The Brooklyn Nets saw their 2021/22 NBA season finished on Monday night after the Boston Celtics completed the sweep behind yet another great performance from their star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Even though they were deemed championship favorites at the start of the season, the Nets never found their touch, Kyrie was out for a lot of time due to his refusal to take the covid-19 vaccine, Kevin Durant dealt with some injuries and James Harden seemed disconnected from the team, which ultimately led to his exit via trade.
Ben Simmons also failed to make an impact on the team, as he didn’t even play a single game in Brooklyn this year. In the end, the Nets finished the season without a playoff win, just like the Los Angeles Lakers, who couldn’t even make it to the play-in tournament.
These two squads were labeled championship favorites before the start of the season and neither could do what their fans expected, creating debates for the wrong reasons now. Legion Hoops sparked a debate when they asked which team had the most disappointing season. NBA fans didn’t hesitate to express their opinion, explaining why one or the other had the worse campaign.
Which team was more disappointing this year?

One team made the playoffs and got eliminated by the best defensive in the league and title contender. The other team didn't even make the play-in tournament… What are we doing here?

Its tough but I got to go with Brooklyn, Kyrie couldn't play half the yr, then just on the road for 1/4 season, they traded Harden and then had to play into the playoffs, the Lakers were poorly put together, AD was hurt Lebron was hurt and everybody else was old.

Shittt we ended up with the same playoff wins as y'all 🤣🤣. I guarantee you bron and then get at least ONE win in a first round playoff series.

I’m going with the team with the best player in the nba on it… who played in the east.
Not the team lead by a 37 year old who everyone called too old and in the west and poorly constructed form the jump, While also losing its 27 year old top 10 player in the nba.

Lakers and Nets were both the betting favorites to make the finals before the season started. So both are equally disappointing.

Lakers ended up 11th in the weakest conference and didn’t even enter the play-in. Obviously them

Easily Lakers. At least the Nets can say coming into the season with at the very least KD and Harden they were 3 games over everyone in the East. The one time KD, Harden, and Kyrie all played together they went to Chicago and beat the 1 seed at the time by 30…

Lakers. We knew thinks were gonna be rough with Kyrie only being with the team 50% of the games
— brbdoo (@solelybrbdoo) April 26, 2022
You do realize jame harden was there at the beginning right
— Randy Ace (@TheRandyAce) April 26, 2022
LOL Kyrie didn’t played because he didn’t wanted to play, Ben Simmons didn’t wanted to play this series, Brooklyn have the most disappointing season

This season started with high expectations for these two teams, but the NBA has proven that having a superteam doesn’t mean you’ll go all the way. The Lakers dealt with many issues, including injuries and the fact that Russell Westbrook wasn’t a good fit with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
As for the Nets, they also dealt with injuries, plus external factors that made everything harder for them. Regardless of which squad had the worse season, they disappointed their fans and have a lot of work to do this offseason if they aspire to turn things around.
