Jamal Crawford Defends Kyrie Irving And Kevin Durant After Magic Johnson Questioned If They Were A Good Fit: “They Have To Individually Play Better, But Also Need To Have More Misdirections, And Better Schemes To Help Them And The Team.”

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, despite having been on the Brooklyn Nets for 3 years now, have not played as much as fans would have hoped to see them play. The Nets are 3-0 down against the Boston Celtics and on the verge of a clean sweep. And many believe that the Nets are no longer the championship contenders that they were expected to be when the duo first joined. But their fit together has been questioned.

Magic Johnson took to Twitter to question the fit between Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, noting that the two might be individually great but not good with each other. Jamal Crawford, who played with Kyrie on the Nets, noted that the two are a great fit, but the Nets rely on them to come up with individual brilliance on a nightly basis because they don’t try and help them through smart offensive gameplans.

Great fit, but we can’t think hand them the ball, & say “go iso” against one of the best defensive teams, every single time down the court is the way to go. They have to individually play better, but also need to have more misdirections, & better scheme to help them & the team. https://t.co/MUCKaIDvON

Crawford seemingly took aim at Steve Nash, the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. Nash has been under fire recently for not making the right kind of adjustments and drawing up plays that can get the attention away from Kyrie and KD, and put the rest of the team in good positions. Nash understands the talent both players have but is seemingly overreliant on them to bail him out of difficult situations.

The Celtics have played incredible defense on Kyrie and KD, and have limited them throughout this series. There isn’t much hope for the Nets, as they would have to win 4 games in a row to try and make it to the next round. But considering the talent they have, the Nets still have a chance to pull it off.
