When LeBron James arrived at the Los Angeles Lakers, it gave fans new hope. After all, since the retirement of the legendary Kobe Bryant, the team was in the mud. While LeBron took a season to get adjusted to his new team, in the second season, the franchise paired him up with Anthony Davis.

The superstar duo proved to be too much to handle for most opponents and went on to win an NBA Championship in their very first season playing together. Fans were jubilant and expected more of the same from the superstar duo.

Unfortunately, that isn’t what happened in the last two seasons. The Lakers have been playing at an underwhelming level. And things went past the boiling point this season as they failed to even make it to the playoffs.

Understandably, many have started to question the future of the LBJ-AD duo. But it seems like Davis is not worried about those rumors, if anything he is quite confident he can win another title with James by his side.

Via ESPN:

“I think us two can. We’ve shown that we can. I don’t know that’s something we just have to reevaluate in the offseason, upstairs, me and him talking about this season and what we would like to see next season and kind of just figure it out. … [We will] come together as a group … to get back to championship mentality that we had our first year. So that would be a very interesting conversation just from the standpoint of what changed. I mean, injuries, but even when we were healthy, I don’t think we were able to reach our full potential — for whatever reason. So I think we want to figure it out and just get back to that championship pedigree that us as players know we’re capable of.”

As Davis mentioned, the Lakers did win the title with him and LeBron serving as the core of the team. Although two years have passed since then, James is still playing at an elite level.

Sadly, the same cannot be said for Davis. He has missed a plethora of games due to injuries and in the games that he did play, he didn’t play at the level fans expect him to. But considering the rumors suggesting that Russell Westbrook could land with the Hornets, it’s high time for AD to step up his game next season.
